Does Screenbase upload my screenshots?+

No. Your screenshots stay on your devices. Screenbase does not require an account and does not operate cloud storage for your screenshot library. Image analysis and OCR happen on-device wherever possible.

Does it replace Photos?+

No. Photos remains the system of record. Screenbase stores references and metadata — notes, tags, collections — rather than duplicating every image.

Do I need an account?+

No. Open the app, grant Photos access, and your existing screenshots appear. That's the whole setup.

How does search work without uploading?+

Search is global across OCR text detected inside screenshots, your annotations, tags, collection names, and available metadata. A query like “free trial” can match any of those. Indexing happens locally.

What if I delete a screenshot from Photos?+

Screenbase keeps the organizational record where it can. The original image is gone, but your annotation, tags, collection membership, and original date stay visible in a missing-asset state.
